There were lot of questions from you folks about how is the culture at CDAC ,rules and regulations , dress code , timings , where to live , where to eat , where to sleep !! After reading these question i thought my next post should be focused on answering these questions.
Your Questions My Answers (Back to old school) :
Que.1 What are the timings ?
Ans.1 24 x 7 ! Yes actually. You will eat , sleep and breath CDAC . Classes at Pune start usually at 8:00AM and end at 9:00PM , now that will be like during the initial days of your cdac course . When the course progresses you will learn that timings are just a myth and the time you spent hunting for a good decent room to stay was as waste as you will go back to your room only to sleep. So bottom line don't think about the timings as you won't get time to even wash your clothes and i am not kidding when i say that.
*You can stay in labs at night too and i am not sure this is allowed at all centres or not but it was at CDAC,Pune. And i am sure after few weeks you will say "Ab to adat si hai mujko aiseee jeenee meee..." :P
Que.2 What is the Dress Code ? Will i be able to dress like a Dudde and a Princesss ?
Ans.2 Well bad news kids ! Put your vanity box , sparkling mascara and blue,purple and yellow tshirts and jeans at home . CDAC says we train students for a professional world so all you will can wear is Formals (Full Sleeve Shirts , Tie , and Trousers & Salwar Suit for girls ) so have atleast 4 sets of those kyu ki kapde to tumko hi dhone hai , ek pair extra rakha to khud ka hi bhala hoga . Few centres allow casuals on Sunday (Yes , you will have classes on sundays too) but during the weekdays , Formals !
Que.3 Is Full attendance required during CDAC course?
Ans.3 Yes ! You had to have above 90% attendance (at pune we were told 99%) to be eligible in CCPP. After reading that most of you will say "Chal be.." but if you see , the course spreads through a span of 6 months and after all you are here for getting job and gaining knowledge , your coordinators will tell you "You are not allowed to be sick". So keep a medical kit with you , vanvas pe ja rahe ho ..tayari se jao :P
*You can always go on a leave if you have genuine reasons and medical certificates to show for the same but rest sardi aur sardard ka bhana nahi chalega .
Que.4 Khana accha milega ? (This one is for those who will get Pune )
Ans.4 Food is a no problem here in Pune , you will get many choices to choose from the only problem is you won't get that much time to choose :P

If you have seen the course structure , each module is divided into hours so max to max a module will last for 12-15 days and they have to cover all the topics in a limited time. So if you miss any of those lectures then you have to study it yourself as those trainers are not from CDAC and are on premise for a limited time.
Do we get to learn something new or we just going to revise the programming concepts that are written on the books?

You will face a way new programming level in CDAC as the faculty here are not the typical once we have faced in schools and colleges but they have a grt industrial experience and will teach u very advanced concepts too.

You can carry ur lappy with you but it is strictly not allowed inside the CDAC ACTS premises for security reasons.

It depends on you. My monthly average was 9000+. I was paying 3800 for PG. Rest was food and other things. As books will be provided by CDAC so that's one minus on you expense list.
P.s. You can get PG's at 2500/-
Well it can vary from 8K to 10K.

If your lover(s) is(are) in( or can visit) Pune then yes, you can manage that sometimes..
That's not big issue. We had some friends about the same concerns and they are placed in very good companies. 4.5 years might be a no no for some companies but there are many companies who does not mind that thing. They are not going to count your arrears/backlogs. I myself had 26+ backlogs and I got the same chances compared to my friends with good academics. We will write a post about it in one or two days to clear the wind on this topic. Thanks for commenting and giving us one more topic to share our experience with CDAC community.

Will the EC and CS/IT students be given equal opportunity at the time of placement @DAC course ?
At the time of placement everyone in CDAC will have one resume format which will be generated by a online system which will be having your Practical and End Exam result of CDAC . So everyone let be EC/CS will be considered same "BY CDAC" but there are companies which require students from a specific background (such companies are very few in no 2 out of 10) so that depends on the company requirement given by companies to CDAC.
So don't worry everyone will get equal opportunities.

Is the placement procedure is same as we faced in engineering colleges or there will be direct interviews?
Hi Amit , CDAC will organize the placement program i,e CDAC is responsible to bring companies.Then companies will tell CDAC about their recruitment procedure and cdac will convey that to you in mail.
For Eg. Most of the companies that came this year took Aptitude Test and Verbal Test followed by Technical HR and then Final HR interview.
There may be few companies who will take direct interview but then the job profile wont be of development AFAIK.
CDAC R&D recruits students based on their CDAC Final Exam scores and Academic Records so they mostly take direct interviews but then who konws it may change in future so be prepared for anything. Best of Luck :)

Sorry to say this but only CS, IT and EC graduate are eligible for CDAC courses.
That would be rare as we got only 5 days for Diwali and it was the first time in CDAC histry. All previous Bach got just one day. That's why Ankit called it "vanwas".

Placement for DESD were quite good this time and a lot of good companies are still coming to CDAC for placement . CDAC R&D came was DESD this time and recruited 5-10 students from ACTS.Pune. So if you are getting Pune for DESD Course go for it. And same for DAC course. So no need to worry about placements and if persay something happens and no company visits CDAC(consider the worst :P ) There is always Rawandale Uncle (This guy is TPO of PCCOE and organizes open campus placements like in every 2-3 weeks ). So placements for DAC and DESD are quite good.

Yeah sure we had a guy with your criteria and he also opted for DESD. Currently he is placed at an MNC.

Getting ACTS would not be possible but 1 year gap would not affect much (Assuming if you get ACTS).It doesn't matter how many year gap you have if you perform good in CDAC you will land a job for sure.

Apparently AFAIK ME branch is not eligible for CCAT but to be sure you can give CDAC a call to clear your doubt.

One year gap isn't a big deal, a lot of people have a year gap. But again i would say it all depends on the company criteria, and companies with these criteria are 2 in 10.
It will be difficult at that rank to get ACTS.

CDAC Noida is not among the best but not on the bottom either. The faculties are better than the authorized center's, placements are above average.
If you are from north India and don't want to move to other part's of India then Noida is good for you.
About the CCPP that changes according to the placement cell. Mostly there will be a common center but you also need to visit to other center or company premises.
Currently we are at our initial stages. We are still working on getting the accurate data so I won't be able to provide you any statics. Sorry for that...

You are eligible for the PGDAC course, but most of the company has 60% criteria for shortlisting.Doing PGDAC won't help you much.
My suggestion is, Do some specific course like Java/Android/SAP or whatever you think you can master, from reputed training center. Work really hard Join any company you get and gain experience. After experience you can try for bigger brands.

Yes DAC marks are considered in placements but all depends on company criteria. CDAC tries to get as many students as possible in the eligibility list of companies but if the company is stringent with their rules and want students who have scored above a certain percentage then only those students will be shortlisted. But you need not to worry as you will get many opportunities.

Basic criteria of a company when it comes to recruitment is 60% throughout i,e 10,12 and Engineering which in your case ,you clear in 10th and 12th but in B.E you have a less score so there is a problem there , but i would say that there were few companies in CDAC which asked for 55% in engineering. So you will get a chance to sit in CCPP but in very few companies that too mostly startup , now i would suggest that if you get a good score in C-CAT and get shortlisted for ACTS,Pune or Banglore for the DAC course than you should take admission there and then during your course you can try in off-campus placement as a PGDAC certification would really help you getting a job even if you dont get placed via CCPP( CDAC says they will give 30 chances ) so i think these chances are more than enough as atleast 10 companies will have the criteria amongst 30. And then after all you will be cdac certified which is always a plus point. So along side CDAC give AMCAT and ELITMUS and keep trying off-campus and i am sure you will soon get a job.

No of calls depends on how many companies visit CDAC . There are two phases of placements 1.On-Campus(First Week or so held at a venue decided by CDAC ) 2.Off-Campus which is held in CDAC Campus . So i cannot precisely say how many chances you will get , though you will get lot of chances in offcampus but cannot say anything about oncampus.
Secondly , R&D looks at lot of things like the CDAC Score/Subject specific Score/Academics and usually they pick the toppers from required course. So if you can top your course or you are among the top 3-5 then you have more chances of being short-listed for R&D :)

Everyone will get chances. Actually you will get 30 campus/off-campus chances unless you have really really bad academic records.

Dress Code Umm..Not Sure . But i think Formals are mandatory in all ACTS , so carry 2-3 pair of formals.

Ans.1 CDAC classes are going to be conducted at the second one of which you googled. Which is above Dominos/near MacD/Reliance Mart/D-Mart and at the other end of Nagras Road :)
Ans. 2 You will get really tiny breaks for Breakfast and Lunch. Dinner you can do after 10 P.M. 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. is not necessary. It will vary time to time. So mostly you will leave for the day between 9:00 to 9:30.
Ans 3 You might face some problem initially but believe me you will get it eventually. If you can't you can always have 1/2 of fee if you leave within one month.

Sahi..Congrats ! :) . August batch placement was excellent and companies are still visiting cdac campus but i cannot give you my word as what could be the scenario in the coming batch. SO just wish that the market continues to grow and your batch too have the awesome placement we had.

WiMC had a excellent placement this time in ACTS,Pune 2-3 students are left from the batch to be placed but that was because the market was pretty good and i cannot guarantee it will be same in the coming batches as our earlier batches didn't had that good placement.Go for ACTS if you are interested in WiMC.
EDIT: If can get Dac at ACTS,Sunbeam or Bangalore then go for it because you will get more placement opportunities with DAC.

If you have 85% then you will be among the top eligible candidates for any campus drive. So definitely it will be a big plus for you. CDAC kp is quite good.

If you take wimc then you will get Mobility(90%) as it depends on company as most of them would decide your stream based on evaluation test they take during training. But if they come specific for WIMC course then you will get Mobility i,e Android/iOS app development.
Companies like Rediff,Prorigo , Cybage etc visited last time.
I cannot answer that because a lot depends on the knowledge you have and your ability to learn. From what i have seen the course will be stressful for everyone so dont worry :P

Previous record of DWIMC placement in pune was excellent. Above 80% placed (I haven't included those who got placed from off-campus).
Getting "good" aggregate is always difficult kishore in any exam :P It's not that tough though :)

Yes it's mandatory Monday to Wednesday. On Sunday you can wear casuals not because it's allowed, but no one will be there to watch you.

This forum of yours has been extremely helpful; seldom do you find such a "one-stop" resource. Thanks to you now I have a pretty good idea about what to expect when I join acts, pune this August. However could you tell me a Little more about the DHI programme if you know? Esp regarding the placements (if any). Also here is my most important question: I have some time left with me before the course commences. I am a pharmacist and as such do not have computing background. I have begun learning the language c on my own. I am also learning some computer architecture. Is there anything else that I should acquaint my self with before I begin the course?

About the placements I know that companies came for DHI but I'm not aware of the status.
Placement vise Sunbeam is good. I talked with Ex-Know-it guy he din't recommend it. Although he told me that teaching is overall good.

Thanks for the appreciation :) Overall DESD is good and lot of core companies are visiting CDAC for recruitment.Not much aware of the overall package but i think CDAC R&D gave the highest package this time for DESD. and Yes you can pay DD personally but before the given date in the admission booklet. Please read the admission booklet carefully.

You will get accommodation easily near CDAC.Please hurry as seats will fill fast because date of joining is near.

Depends if the flat if fully furnished and you have people ready to take accommodation and its reasonably priced then go for it. On the other hand, PG is also good if you dont have 4-5 people with you as in PG you will be provided with bed and almira and you dont have to buy any thing , but if you go for a flat which "wont be easy" in a place like Aundh that too unfurnished that you have to buy everything and at the same time maintain it.
So if you get a flat and have 4-5 friends with you and that flat is fully furnished and around 14-15k then go for it.Else PG is best.

Actually we got an offer letter in that demand draft is mentioned but in admission booklet crossed demand draft is mentioned.
Actually I can't remember what was that actually when I made my DD. I only remember that you have to take either check or a account withdrawal form because bank won't give you DD for that much amount on cash.
Talk to the helpline number they are very helpful even I had called for this point.

1. Well I am trying to look out for a CDAC's contact number because all their numbers mentioned on their website are 24 hrs busy (trust me I tried at 3.00 am as well!)
2. I saw you'll mentioning about the busy schedule & attendance, but I would specifically like to know the timings which are more likely to be followed. How many days in a week is the training conducted? Plus what about the attendance? I need to know this because I am linked with some of my commitments for time being & will have to manage both of them for some time.
3. How about the dress code? You mentioned formals for Monday to Wednesday, what about Thursday to Saturday (if lecs are throughout the week!)
4. Yes, I am a 2012 pass out & have work experience since then. How fruitful can DESD be to get me into a core MNCs?
5. Any contacts for accommodating or PGs?

Thanks , we try our best to answer every query possible.
1.Well i never called CDAC :P But as you have already tried every number on their website , try sending them email or if you have a friend ask him to query on your behalf.
2.About the timing and attendance , you have to keep a 90%+ attendance to be eligible for CCPP . During our time classes used to be through out the week i,e 7 Days but a lot depends on at what pace they are covering each module , if they are lagging behind due to some reason they will take classes on Sunday too. But i have heard that they have now started giving Sunday off.
3.Well in Pune you have to wear formals for 6 days ! It may not be the same case in other branches.I would suggest you carry 4 pair of formals , kapde kam dhona padega :P
4.Experience will help you in job , but i think won't count much during placement as it depends what the company wants so if your Work-ex is in their domain than it may help you if not then it wont count to much.
5. We are yet to compile a list as we dont have numbers , but in the mean time search on Housing.com/Olx/etc
Sir how does cdac evaluates the performance of students during the course ? Do they conduct sessionals, end term examinations, practical examination, assignments like its done in b.tech ? What is the marking scheme during performance evaluation at cdac ?
There will be a practical evaluation after each module. At end a mcq pattern exam for each module and project. Practical will be of 60 marks and mcq of 40. You have to score 18 and 16 minimum respectively.

thanku sir.. what is considered to be a good score in these evaluations that is a score that gets a person shortlisted for most of the companies visiting cdac during ccpp ? is there negative marking in these mcqs ? what is the difficulty level of these mcqs nd practical evaluation ?
DAC is good but if you don't have any programming experience then you have to work hard initially. Dress code formals on Monday and Thursday and for remaining days casuals.
You should score at least 60% but that's not a must thing. No negative marking was there. Though difficulty level depends on how prepared you are. Don't worry too much once you get there things will happen automatically you can't control them just manage your time efficiently.

That's not entirely true companies look for the people that can perform not the freshness. There are many topper who are only good at academics and they can't be suitable for work. Your academics are fine and 1 year gap is not too much so don't worry about that.

Exams will probably in December , Schedule will be uploaded on website of CDAC so keep checking.
Sorry Rakesh , i have no idea about any institute in Hyderabad but check if they provide Pre-CDAC course because PUNE does have a Pre-CDAC course which prepares you for the exam.
